Holkham Beach is regularly voted one of England's best beaches — a vast expanse of golden sand backed by pine woods on the north Norfolk coast. While it is about 60 minutes from Church Farm Barns, it makes an excellent day trip from our Lingwood base.
About Holkham Beach
Holkham Beach is part of the Holkham National Nature Reserve. The beach is enormous — at low tide, you can walk hundreds of metres across firm sand. The pine woods behind the beach provide shelter and a beautiful approach walk. Holkham Hall, a grand Palladian mansion, sits nearby and is open to visitors. The beach is dog-friendly year-round.
Things to Do
Walk the vast beach at any time of year. Visit Holkham Hall and its walled garden. Walk through the pine woods that frame the beach. Watch for seals at nearby Blakeney Point or Wells harbour. The villages of Wells-next-the-Sea and Burnham Market are nearby for lunch and browsing.
